Future climate change and variability are increasingly difficult to predict and quantify, making planning and project design challenging and costly. AFRI-RES provides catalytic grants to World Bank projects to demonstrate the benefits of allocating dedicated funding toward enhancing climate resilience of investments during the project design phase. Project teams are using the funds in a variety of ways, including: (i) climate risk assessments; (ii) capacity building trainings; (iii) climate studies; and (iv) hiring technical experts. Project teams regularly share updates throughout the life of the grant and provide a completion report at the end. The insights from those updates and final reports are being distilled into a lessons learned document.
